在批改同學的英文作文時，經常發現他們沒有太多linking words（連接詞）可用，不是although，就是because。其實，在DSE中，同學要多用不同的linking words，達到行文流暢的效果。事實上，懂得用linking words的同學，通常較能把要表達的概念清楚地呈現出來，有助評卷員批改時較能理解其上文下理，不用太費心思為同學思前想後，再慢慢推敲和解讀字句。因此，懂得用linking words更會令讀者印象深刻。只要多學幾個linking words，就自然不會用來用去都是and、or、but了。以下列舉更多連接詞的例子：
