在可見的未來，世界各地將會有各種大大小小的競選。Neck and neck就是一個與競選比賽有關的詞彙。
「Neck and neck」多用來形容比賽，指參賽者不相伯仲，實力相當，都有勝出的可能，難以預測結果。大家可以想像到，這個短語來自賽馬，與香港人說的「叮噹馬頭」意思一樣。運動項目不時都會見到這個用語。

另一個與neck and neck意思差不多，但較為少用的短語是nip and tuck，同樣指比賽中競爭者之間難分高下。不同之處在於neck and neck單指2人水準相若，實力相當，而nip and tuck則指累計成績中，兩者互有勝負，沒有誰處於明顯的優勢。
It is nip and tuck between the two tennis players. We can't be sure now who will be the world no.1 at the end of this year.
這兩名網球手各有勝負。我們目前難以確定誰會成為今年年終的世界排名第一。
