Visas issued by the United States to Chinese citizens soared 68.2% in December and January after the two countries forged a deal to extend the validity of tourist and business visas at a time when outbound tourism by China is the fastest growing in the world.
正當中國外出旅遊業是世界上發展得最快的時候，中美兩國達成了協議，將旅遊及商務簽證的有效期延長。此後，在12月份及1月份中，美國發給中國公民的簽證數上升了68.2%。
During US President Barack Obama's visit to Beijing in November, China and the United States signed a reciprocal visa policy, pledging to increase the validity of tourist and business visas from one year to 10 years and the validity of student visas from one year to five years. The US began issuing longer-term visas on November 12.
美國總統奧巴馬於11月訪問北京時，中美兩國簽定相互的簽證政策，承諾會將旅遊及商業簽證有效期由一年延長至10年，將學生簽證有效期由一年延長至5年。美國於11月12日開始發出較長的簽證。
"A competitive visa policy will help us meet projections that suggest 7.3 million Chinese travelers will come to the US by 2021, contributing nearly US$85 billion a year to the US economy and supporting up to 440,000 US jobs, " the White House said.
白宮表示，根據預測，至2021年，將有730萬中國人會來到美國，但一個具競爭力的簽證政策可以幫助我們在應付（這些中國旅客）的同時，每年對美國經濟貢獻850億美元，並支持44萬個美國就業機會。
