■「截然不同」是chalk and chesse，「十分相似」則是peas in a pod。 網上圖片朋友的兩個兒子，年齡相仿，樣子亦相似，但性格截然不同，一個文靜內向，一個活潑好動，天壤之別。若以英文形容，可以說他們是chalk and cheese。
Chalk and cheese比喻兩個人或兩件事物完全不一樣，甚至南轅北轍。Chalk是白灰石，或稱白堊。學校上課用的粉筆就是用這種石做成，所以粉筆亦叫做chalk。
Be like chalk and cheese
Cheese我們習慣叫作芝士，亦稱乳酪，是牛奶做成的食品。把大塊芝士切開，其切面的確與白灰石崖壁有些相似，但是大家都知道兩者根本是完全不同的東西。
由於chalk與cheese兩個英文字的發音開頭都是ch，因此成為順口的常用語。
比喻兩種非常不同的人或物，可以說他們be like chalk and cheese（像粉筆和乳酪），或be as different as chalk and cheese（像粉筆和乳酪般截然不同）：
The two brothers are like chalk and cheese. One is an introvert while the other an extrovert.
這兩兄弟根本截然不同，一個內向，另一個外向。
These two cities are as different as chalk and cheese. You need to think more carefully before deciding where to go.
這兩個城市有天壤之別。你必須先仔細思量要決定到哪一個城市去。
It is not fair to compare this case of crime to a playful act. They are like chalk and cheese.
把這個罪案與頑耍行為作比較並不公平，兩者差天共地。
「豆莢中的豆」喻如出一轍
要形容兩個人性格迥異，可以用chalk and cheese作比喻。反之，要形容兩個人外形裝扮、行為舉止都非常相似，可以說他們是two peas in a pod。
Peas是豌豆，而pod就是包着豌豆的豆莢。雖然事實上並非必然，但大家總覺得同一個豆莢中的豆應該一模一樣，所以就用了peas in a pod比喻十分酷似的人。
說兩個人非常相似，或經常走在一起，可以說他們是two peas in a pod，或be like (two) peas in a pod（如一個豆莢中的豌豆般似的）：
The two brothers are two peas in a pod. They look alike, have similar interests and study the same subject.
這兩兄弟猶如同一個模子倒出來，外形相似，興趣相同，也修讀同一個科目。
The girls in the class are so close that they are like peas in a pod. It's sometimes hard to tell who is who.
班中的女孩太親密了，做什麼都一模一樣，有時難以分辨。
People are different. We can't expect everyone to behave like peas in a pod.
人之不同，各如其面，不能期望人人的行止都同一模式。
