■Mycroft的能力甚至比弟弟Sherlock更強。 網上圖片無論改編劇《新世紀福爾摩斯》還是原著，Mycroft基本上都是一個非常聰明的人，但他亦非常之懶惰和沒野心，所以他沒打算做偵探（Mycroft's basically a very intelligent man but he's incredibly lazy and not ambitious, so he prefers to not be a detective）。
他的推論能力和Sherlock Holmes不相伯仲，甚至被描繪為更勝一籌 （His powers of deduction surpass that of Sherlock）。在《新世紀福爾摩斯》中，他倆終於有一場推論戰 （deduction battle），但結果都是Mycroft贏。
Sherlock只是蠢材
原來，Mycroft 一向都是兩兄弟中比較聰明的一個 （Mycroft has always been "the smart one" ）這不是Mycroft自己一個覺得是這樣，而是「according to them both」，即是連Sherlock都承認的事實。直至見到其他小朋友前，他倆一直相信Sherlock是個蠢材（They believe that Sherlock was an idiot until they met other children）。
又有一次，Mycroft 告訴 Sherlock， Alex Garrideb 是有近視的，只是做了corrective laser surgery 現在才可以看清楚東西。這一點，就連Sherlock都看漏眼，但他只是看看Alex的衣物就推論出來 （He just deduced it from simply looking at Alex's clothes)。
雖然如此聰明，但Mycroft寧願留在政府機構工作( He works for the British government)，享受高薪厚職的穩定，也不願意「go solo」，做獨行俠，自己去破案。在原著中，Mycroft 的收入是450鎊一年，即現在約44,000鎊年薪 （Mycroft draws a salary of £450, which is around £ 44,000 these days, a year)。
Mycroft的懶惰，在劇中也有多處描繪，例如：雖然他自己可以做到，但他寧願叫Sherlock and John幫他去現場做調查（He prefers asking Sherlock and John to do field work for him even though he could do it himself）。原因是什麼？當然是因為懶啦。這種工作要太多「腳力」了，這可不是他喜歡做的事情啊（This kind of job requires too much "legwork," something that he is not very fond of）。
這麼懶惰，身形當然也不會很fit，很健美。在原著中，Mycroft比Sherlock肥得多了。而《新世紀福爾摩斯》裡他也被Sherlock笑要keep fit減肥。■吹水同學會會長 馬漪楠
