What is the good of undermining the morale of the Hong Kong police force?

A few days ago, protesters of the Occupy Central movement violently charged police cordon line, forcing the police to fire tear gas in an attempt to disperse those stirring up the situation. The action was later criticized as using "violence" against "unarmed students". The police stressed that the use of tear gas was to disperse the crowd and to clear a safe area so that no harm would be caused by the charging protesters. In fact, firing tear gas was a reasonable and necessary move for the police under the special circumstances on the day. At that time, a large number of protesters were being engaged in severe pushing and thrusting with the police, and the repeated use of pepper spray was unable to stop the crowd. The police had to resort to the use of tear gas to control the situation so as to ensure the safety of the police officers as well as the protesters. All sections in society should understand this special move made by the police.

It has to be pointed out that it is violation of law raiding government premises and occupying roads. So what is wrong when the police was to restore public order? The police force is the guardian angel of our lawful society and the keeper of peace in Hong Kong. Undermining the morale of the police force can only do more harm than good to Hong Kong.
