¦]¦¹¥þ¬q¥i^Ķ¦p¤U¡GThe extremist group "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) posted a clip online through its supporters on Feb 26, showing that extremists destroyed plenty of the cultural relics of the Assyrian Era in Mosul, the second largest city of Iraq by using sledgehammers and electric drills, just like the Taliban in Afghanistan to blew up the Buddhas of Bamiyan in 2001. The Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Bokova, expressed that the cultural relics are an important part of Iraq, and described the incident as "cultural cleansing." She said that the international community must punish such war crime, and urged the Security Council to call an emergency meeting in order to preserve the local cultural relics. ¡½Ãe¹Å»ö
