現在，我們常常都聽到「政府應多聽市民的聲音」或「議員的職責就是為市民發聲」等言論。大家都知道，這裡所說的「聲音」，即是「意見」。英文的「voice」（聲音），也有一樣的作用，也可以解作「意見」。
The government has to listen to the voices of different citizens.
政府必須聽取不同公民的聲音（意見）。
The district council represents the voice of the residents.
區議會代表居民的聲音（意見）。
There are some dissenting voices in the council.
議會內有一些不同意見的聲音（意見）。
一群人 口徑一致
如果說「with one voice」（一把聲音），即是一班人的意見一樣，俗語稱為「口徑一致」。
It is quite impossible for all council members to speak with one voice.
要全體議會成員口徑一致，其實不大可能。
They finally decided with one voice not to take the case to court.
他們最終達成一致決定，不把案件交由法院審理。
Voice of experience 經驗之談
很多時會聽到voice of reason，意思是「基於理性而提出的意見」，不是一時意氣的聲音。至於voice of experience， 就是經驗之談。在這些用途上，voice 亦可以指發表這些意見的人。
He is often considered to be the voice of reason in the committee.
他常常被視為委員會內代表理性的聲音。
The voice of experience tells you never to take up smoking.
經驗之談告訴你，絕對不要吸煙。
此外，亦有一句短語，a voice (crying) in the wilderness（在無人曠野的呼喊聲），指一些被忽視、不被接受的意見。
She had warned them to be careful, but unluckily it was a voice in the wilderness.
她曾警告他們要小心，可惜她的聲音卻成為無人曠野的呼喊聲。
They got angry as their opinion was regarded as a voice crying in the wilderness.
他們的意見被視作在無人曠野的呼喊聲，對此感到憤怒。
時機技巧 學問一門
當今社會有很多發表意見的機會，所謂make our voice heard即是發聲，令別人留意，學習語文就是幫助我們更加有效地表達意見。
We can make our voice heard more effectively with better language.
語言水平高，可以更有效地傳達自己的意見。
當然，究竟是voice of reason、voice of experience，還是voice (crying) in the wilderness，除了是意見本身是否合理，發聲的時機和技巧。這也是一門學問。 ■Lina CHU
