擾攘數周的違法「佔中」行動，引發支持和反對的市民發生衝突，引起社會極大關注。「佔中」對社會造成極大破壞，也會削弱香港民生和經濟。由於「佔中」屬違法行為，不少家長苦口婆心地勸子女不要參與，卻被看成保守、「反民主」，引發家庭成員間不少齟齬摩擦。
警長時間執勤 身心疲倦
還有一小部分人繼續違法「佔中」，並聲稱：「我們正爭取民主。」但他們真的是爭取廣大市民的利益嗎？（There are few people continue the "Occupy Central" illegal movement, proclaiming that "we are fighting for democracy", yet are they really fighting for our interest? ）
警方秉公執法，卻被看成打壓示威人士，對已長時間執勤、身心疲累的警員，遭受這類無理指控，是極為不公平，對他們也造成相當大的壓力。筆者認為，參與任何非法活動去追求自己的利益，是不得人心的。（The use of appropriate level of force to contain crowds and stop any illegal activities from happening is not wrong because it is the police's job. I urge for those to refrain from participating in any illegal activities, just because they appear to be "peaceful", the idea of breaking the law to pursue one's interest is already an aggressive one.）
筆者呼籲社會各界，包括學生，一起促進香港的穩定與發展，而示威者應考慮全港市民利益，讓出道路，恢復交通，避免引發衝突。 ■陳威雄 青年民建聯副主席、民建聯財經及教育事務副發言人
